Morris Mills has been playing in the Chicago music scene for a long time now, but is starting to gain national ( and international) attention.. and it is well deserved.
His aptly named recent album, Love and Coffee is full of delicious songs that wake you up and make you yearn for someone to wrap your arms around. Although a few of the songs are lacking in production quality, the majority of them are well produced and well performed. Especially notable are Hello, where Morris' falsetto soul style sends you into orbit and the title Track Love and Coffee, which has a very Stevie Wonder feel to it. I am especially fond of the faster paced, high energy Steppin out 2nite which is a bit of Lenny Kravitz meets modern electronica. Give him a listen and grab the album.
This little tune from Greg B & the Fonkmasters is smooth, sexy funk. It envelopes you like silk sheets, and starts the grinding beat at the very core of your being. If you are having a quiet evening with your sweetie, try putting on this album and seeing where the mood takes you.
Being TV deficient, I would never have known that Kolade is also apparently a very famous CSI actor... I have no idea if he can act, but he has a wonderful voice ! Not quite R&B, not quite soul, I am not sure where to classify this music. I almost want to call it vocal environmental experimental music. What ever you call it, it goes down easy on the ears. Smooth vocal riffs combined with live and electronic instrumentals and environmental sounds.. give it a listen.
I am late getting today's pick out, but it is worth the wait.
Take a listen to Eli "paperboy" Reed, but hang onto shorts before clicking play, he will blow them off!!
