The Supervinyls have managed to produce an album that is full of funky organ riffs, electronic melody and a rhythm track that does not let up. Their album Transmission 14 blasts off with the 54 second Intro- a song that is pure 70s funk , then continues on a rocket ride into the 2007s mixing more and more modern grooves with classic funk.
I am so excited about this Amie Street Discovery. I am shocked and surprised that the Adam Ezra Group has not gotten more coverage, and I am sure that will not last. Although classed as Folk Rock, as you can hear in this sample of Eddie Whistles from their album Crawl, there is a bit of funk mixed in with some of the songs. On the straight songs, he reminds me a bit of John Mellencamp or Don Henley. With the funk going on, he has an element of very early James Brown. This is good stuff.. go grab it before everyone else discovers how good it is!!
Zach Deputy has a classic mix of funk and reggae on Out of the Water. This collection of upbeat songs are a great addition to any party, or even just to pick up a rainy day. Give this sample a listen, then head on over and pick up the whole album.
This little tune from Greg B & the Fonkmasters is smooth, sexy funk. It envelopes you like silk sheets, and starts the grinding beat at the very core of your being. If you are having a quiet evening with your sweetie, try putting on this album and seeing where the mood takes you.
